Medical tourism, traveling abroad for medical treatment and procedure that are not affordable or available in the U.S., is a fast-growing industry. According to the World Health Organization, the most common reasons for medical travel are for dental care, cosmetic, orthopedic, elective surgery, and fertility treatment.
If you are interested in traveling abroad for medical treatment, here are some tips:
-
Go through a facilitator. Facilitators can help you navigate the process of securing and achieving quality and affordable treatments abroad. They will help you request and obtain passports, arrange connections to accredited doctors and hospitals, transfer medical records, book flights, and arrange accommodations and transportation.

Older Adults who stop driving experience a sharp reduction in their social network and nearly double their risk of depression, according to a study in the Journal of American Geriatrics Society. Researchers found that stopping driving contributes to diminished physical and cognitive functioning and greater risk of admission to long-term care facilities. If a loved-one stops driving, it is important to ensure mobility and social functioning since at-home activities may not be as beneficial as activities they replace.
